I have asked myself this question many times.  I have arrived at one answer; I don't know.  That is the truth.  Sadly, every man must except and understand this.  However, there is hope.  Hopefully these suggestions will help eliminate the lack of understanding of what she really wants.

I think the best thing a guy can do is listen.  A woman will tell you her desires if you listen.  Nothing in life is easy, and this is why women unknowingly torture men.  The details are hidden in the massive amounts of information you receive from a woman.  I think most men have tuned a woman out: a wife, girlfriend, mother, or sister.  All guys have done it.  Speaking from a personal experience, I don't understand the complexity of the conversation and give up.  I just sit there wide eyed and clueless.  Don't do this, because if a woman knows you're just sitting there, you are going to pay for it.  Jennifer Lopez said, "My love don't cost a thing."  She is right, love is free, but you still have to earn it.

Asking can help uncover some hidden gems.  Please don't take this literally and flat out ask a woman, "What do you want?"  You have to be creative to keep a woman's affection.  Ask follow up questions about what she is talking about.  You are not only listening, you are engaging her in conversation.  This should score you big points in effort.  Effort is golden.   You maybe failing misreably at listening by offering bad advice, but questions will help you understand the root of her needs.

Suprisingly, many women will help you if you ask.  Talking to a woman's friends or relatives can gain you powerful allies when you mess up.  Trust me all men will mess up.  I am thankful if a week goes by and I don't have a 'doh' moment.  I was shocked to find out that women want to help each other out.  Don't be a victim of pride and arrogance, seek advice.

You are going to have to guess when it comes to figuring out what she wants.  Make it an educated one.  Do your homework.  Think about your favorite hobby and ask yourself, are you putting the same effort into your love interest?  If not, maybe you should give it a try.  Don't be paralyzed to make a decision.  Doing nothing is worse than something horrible.
